The Graduate School offers excursions to companies, fairs, museums and other places of specific interest to international students as well as places of a mainly cultural and tourist interest. Offenburg is in the heart of Europe, so a large variety of places, from historic to high-tech and from remote and romantic to avant-garde are accessible within a few hours drive or train ride.
The Graduate School has organised for example trips to Venice, Paris, Berlin, Bremen and Munich and snow trips to the Swiss Alps or Vosges mountains. All these trips are partly sponsored by the university. More thrilling destinations are yet to be discovered!

You will attend day trips specifically corresponding to the topics of your Master Program. In thoroughly selected companies in Germany, France and Switzerland you will experience work processes you have until now theoretically studied in your seminars. These field trips are highly sponsored by each program. Recent company visits were:
- ECM: 2-day-trip to 5 power plants in Germany and Switzerland (solar, hydro, biomass, heat exchange, nuclear) with a visit of a 400 year old Black Forest farm house.
- IBC: Daimler Chrysler in Rastatt, Herrenknecht in Schwanau, Zeppelin Lufttechnik in Friedrichshafen
During this event, German and international students present their home country: daily life, landscape, traditions, history, art, culture, as well as facts about economy, future perspectives, technology and other important topics.
The International Evenings support and promote communication between the many different cultures present on our Campus. They help students knowing each other better in a frame of professionalism and mutual respect.
Special guests honour this event too. Personalities like the Indonesian Consul, Mr. Djoko Harjanto, the Missioner of Mexico to the Council of Europe, Mr. Carlos Salazar, or Mr. Ali Güney, Vice Consul and Mr. Ali Can, Education Attaché of Turkey, among others, had been guest speakers. The local press is mostly very interested on the colourful campus and the student’s life.
As a Graduate School student you are most welcome to represent your country at one of the three evenings organised every year. Perhaps you could recite a unique story about your country or sing a traditional folk song, but a multimedia show with live music; dance in traditional costumes accompanied with delicacies and meals typical to your country is also welcomed.
Do not forget to bring some items from your home country which are not available in Germany, e.g. specific dresses, tools or toys, pictures, musical instruments a. s. o.
